The UCSF Gender Affirming Health Program is a multidisciplinary program consisting of experts in transgender medicine and surgery at UCSF Medical Center. Our aim is to provide evidence-based, cutting-edge clinical care for transgender and gender non-binary communities, as well as to conduct pioneering research and train the next generation of medical providers on all aspects of gender-affirming clinical care.
"We believe that it is every person’s right to feel comfortable in their own body. This is why we use the informed consent model for our non-adolescent patients, and recognize that there are genders beyond the binary. Moreover, we have an insurance advocacy team who have successfully secured insurance coverage for over 90% of our patients.
We hope to reinforce the competent and respectful experience our patients deserve across our entire patient experience. All staff members, even those who do not regularly interact with patients, have received training and education on transgender identities and healthcare. In our office, inclusion and empowerment of the trans community is paramount.
Our surgeons are skilled in a wide variety of techniques, we lay out all possible options for every individual patient so they can personalize surgery according to their needs and preferences."
"From gender-affirming hormone therapy and transition support to medications for anxiety and depression, it can be hard to find one clinic or doctor who understands how to care for you. That’s why we founded Plume, a virtual home for transgender, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming people.
We offer a range of healthcare services, including prescriptions for estrogen or testosterone. At Plume, you can be your authentic self and get the gender-affirming care you need. You don’t have to teach your doctor how to care for you—instead, you can let your Care Team support you with a unique care plan that is customized to your transition goals."
